Physics 117 - Nuclear Engergy

Use nuclear power as an example to study how science works and how society interacts with it. Basics of nuclear physics will be covered, no previous knowledge required. Nuclear reactors, weapons. Society's energy needs. Impact on environment. Course will try to encourage a skeptical, inquiring habit of mind. Suitable for students in all majors (science and non science) wishing to fulfill PS gen-ed requirement.
