Physics 423 - Statistical Physics

Thermodynamic and statistical descriptions of many particle systems. The laws of thermodynamics. Entropy. Free energies. Macrostates and microstates. Canonical and microcanonical probability distributions. Phase transitions. Application to various systems, including classical and quantum gases, solids.
