Postdoctoral Research Associate in soft condensed matter theory

The physics department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate to work with Prof. B. Davidovitch on theory of pattern formation in membranes and other continuum mechanics problems. A Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Math, or a related field is required. Preference will be given to applicants with prior research experience and interest in the broad areas of soft condensed matter theory, asymptotic methods, and numerical analysis of PDE’s. The initial appointment is for one year, with likelihood of an extension. Review of applications will begin March 20, 2009 and will continue until the position is filled.
