On April 6th, the CDF Collaboration, which includes professor Benjamin Brau, reported an anomaly observed in proton anti-proton collision events at the Fermilab Tevatron. There is a mood of guarded excitement in the high energy community because of the possibility this might be due to a new particle never before observed, and not predicted by the Standard Model of particle physics. The result was announced in an arXiv preprint and in The New York Times. An article in in livescience.com, featuring professor David Kawall was also picked up by the media.
