A New Kind of Superconductivity

The group of Professor Egor Babaev has published a theory of a new "type-1.5" superconductor and numerical calculations of their behaviour in magnetic fields.
A magnetic field applied to type-1 superconductors produces supercurrents on the surface of the superconductor, while in type-2 superconductors it forms a lattice of quantized vortices. However, a type-1.5 superconductor shows two superconducting components: one forms vortex clusters, the other produces surface current in the boundary of these vortex cluster. ...more
