The Physics Department is very pleased to welcome three new faculty members in Physics in Fall 2018.

Assistant Professor Jordy de Vries is a theoretical physicist who works on nuclear and high-energy phenomenology, including low-energy precision tests and Physics beyond the standard model, such as dark matter detection and neutrino-less double beta decay.

Assistant Professor Ben Heidenreich is a theoretical physicist who works on string theory phenomenology, theories of quantum gravity, including exotic theories; formal field theories, and cosmology.

Assistant Professor Shuang Zhou, highlighted in the October Spotlight on this page, is an experimental soft condensed matter physicist who works on active matter, combining liquid crystal physics with bacteria to generate novel behavior.
