Abstract:

Topological defects and other stable textures are common in magnetic systems. Well-known examples are domain walls, vortices, and skyrmions. I will outline a simple way to classify defects in the bulk and on the boundary of isotropic two- and three-dimensional ferromagnets and derive their classical equations of motion.
