The CP Nature of the Higgs Boson

Date:
Friday, May 1, 2015 - 9:00am to Sunday, May 3, 2015 - 12:00pm
Location:

Lederle Graduate Research Tower (LGRT) 419B, UMass Amherst

A variety of extended Higgs sector models contain new sources of CP-violation that may have implications for the origin of the cosmic baryon asymmetry. The goal of the workshop is to identify the existing low-energy constraints on Higgs CP violation as well as the possible signatures at high-energy colliders. Given the imminent start of Run II at the LHC, the prospects of significantly more sensitive low-energy CPV probes, and developing plans for future lepton and hadron colliders, it is timely to explore in detail the best strategies for uncovering CP-violation in Higgs sector extensions.

The workshop will bring together a selected group of theorists and experimentalists to:

1. Reassess the motivations for CP-violation in extended Higgs sectors associated with various beyond-the-Standard Model scenarios and their implications for cosmology
2. Delineate the implications of low-energy probes of CP-violation, such as electric dipole moments and CP asymmetries in heavy flavor systems, for Higgs sector extensions
3. Identify the possible signatures of CP-violating Higgs sector interactions at the LHC and prospective future colliders and evaluate the expected sensitivities to these signatures

We anticipate that new collaborative efforts may be initiated at the workshop in response to these issues, and we anticipate writing a white-paper post-workshop to lay out a roadmap for future experimental and theoretical progress.
