Abstract:

The parity-violating electroweak asymmetry in the elastic scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons from nuclei provides a clean measurement of neutron distribution within a nucleus. A precise measurement of neutron radius can provide strong constraints to the nuclear theory of neutron-rich nuclei. In 2020, the Calcium Radius Experiment (CREX) collaboration successfully measured this asymmetry using an electron beam from the CEBAF accelerator at Jefferson Lab incident on an enriched 48Ca target. The CREX collaboration released the final asymmetry result in the APS-DNP Fall meeting. In this talk, I will give a brief overview of the experimental setup, data analysis and discuss the physics implications of the present measurement.
