Upper division STEM major needed to help grade Physics 118 (Energy and Society) for Fall 2021.

Grading help needed for Physics 118 (Energy and Society) for Fall 2021. Upper division physics majors preferred, but other STEM majors may be considered, along with students who have previously taken the course.

This course is designed for non-scientists who have an interest in sustainable energy and the scientific, technological, economic, and political issues surrounding it. The class offers a general overview of the science and technology of energy consumption and production, as well as trends in mankind's use of energy. A significant portion of the course focuses on the broad implications of the current use of fossil fuels, including climate change. Homework for the course consists primarily of weekly problem sets, as well as a couple group writing projects.

The grading job requires a 10-hour/week commitment on average (but is somewhat irregular). It can be either a paid position (at $13.50/hr) or it can be arranged for course credit. Two and a half hours a week are spent in class (MWF 11:15am-12:05pm) , one hour a week in a training meeting, about one hour a week reading/preparing, one hour per week running a help session, the rest grading papers.

Interested parties should contact Prof. Guy Blaylock and be prepared to submit references and a writing sample.
