Reactor Neutrinos: Sterile Neutrino Searches with Precision Measurements at Very Short Baselines

Jim Napolitano

I will quickly review the evidence for sterile neutrino oscillations, but then highlight the difficulties of doing precision reactor neutrino experiments with nuclear power reactors. I will then discuss the current status of experiments at research reactors at very short baselines, which will directly search for oscillations due to sterile neutrinos, while providing a clear and high statistics measurement of the fundamental neutrino spectrum shape from 235U fission products. I will then spend time discussing one of these experiments in detail, namely PROSPECT.
